India’s Women Decline Asia Cup Trophy From ACC President

DUBAI-(UNS): India’s women’s cricket team declined to receive the Asia Cup trophy from Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Mohsin Naqvi after defeating Sri Lanka in Sunday’s final, according to ACC sources.

The sources said the presentation arrangements had been agreed in advance and the trophy was available to the winning team. They said India chose not to accept it from Naqvi.

The Indian team’s account of the presentation was not included in the report.

The dispute echoes the 2025 men’s Asia Cup final, when India also finished the ceremony without receiving the trophy from Naqvi.

ACC sources said the women’s trophy remained available for collection and that Naqvi’s position on presenting it had not changed.
