FIA Anti-Corruption Circle, Quetta Performance in Anti-Theft Operations

Islamabad -UNS:The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Anti-Corruption Circle (ACC) Quetta, has achieved significant progress in its operations against electricity theft and financial corruption during the period from March 2024 to March 2026. Through coordinated inspections and investigations, FIA teams conducted extensive operations across various areas to curb electricity theft and financial irregularities.

During this period, a total of 17,560 points were inspected, resulting in the detection of 1,193 cases of electricity theft. Subsequently, 853 inquiries were initiated against the individuals involved, and 324 FIRs were registered. Investigations further revealed financial irregularities amounting to PKR 172.98 million, while legal proceedings ensured recoveries totaling PKR 825.56 million.

During the operations, illegal equipment and materials used in electricity theft were confiscated. These included 620 tampered/slow electricity meters, 15 illegal transformers, and approximately 1,300 meters of direct wiring (kunda system) used for unauthorized electricity consumption. Investigations also uncovered the involvement of officials from the Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO). In an overbilling case, 14 QESCO officials were found involved, resulting in overbilling of 820,606 excess units. Seven FIRs were registered in this regard. Additionally, 23 QESCO officials were found involved in various cases related to electricity theft and corruption, leading to the registration of six more FIRs.

The FIA Anti-Corruption Circle remains committed to strengthening its efforts against electricity theft and financial misconduct. The agency will continue to take strict legal action against those involved in illegal activities to safeguard public resources and ensure transparency in the energy sector.
