Peshawar: The district administration in Peshawar has launched a major crackdown against suppliers involved in distributing dead chickens, officials confirmed on Sunday.
According to Deputy Commissioner Captain (R) Sanaullah Khan, a joint operation was carried out at Bacha Khan Chowk under the supervision of Additional Assistant Commissioners Syed Basharat Hussain and Inayat ur Rehman.
Large Quantity Seized
During the raid, authorities recovered more than 1,200 dead chickens. Officials revealed that the meat was intended to be supplied across the city after being processed.
Investigations indicate that the group was cleaning the dead birds and distributing the meat to various food outlets, including shawarma and chicken burger vendors.
Arrests and Disposal
Two members of the group were arrested on the spot. The confiscated meat was taken into official custody and disposed of to prevent any public health risk.
Joint Operation
The operation was conducted with the participation of officials from the livestock department, civil defense, and the Capital Metropolitan Government.
Legal Action
Deputy Commissioner Captain (R) Sanaullah Khan stated that strict legal action will be taken against those involved in the illegal activity.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to ensuring food safety and warned that further operations will continue against those endangering public health.
