Lahore : Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has taken serious notice of reports alleging that a surgical procedure was carried out under the light of a mobile phone due to a power outage in the emergency operation theatre of Services Hospital.
According to official sources, the Chief Minister expressed deep concern over the incident and termed it unacceptable, emphasizing that no compromise on patient safety and healthcare standards would be tolerated.
She has directed the Health Department to submit an immediate and detailed report on the matter.
The reported incident has raised questions regarding the availability of backup power systems and emergency preparedness in one of Lahore’s major public healthcare facilities.
The Chief Minister instructed authorities to identify those responsible if negligence is proven and ensure strict action in accordance with the law.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif further stressed the importance of uninterrupted medical services, particularly in emergency situations, and called for a review of power backup mechanisms across all government hospitals in Punjab.
Officials from the Health Department have initiated an inquiry, and further developments are expected following the submission of the report.
