Lahore-UNS: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Monday visited the Provincial Intelligence Fusion and Assessment Centre (PIFTAC), making Punjab the first province to establish such a facility.
During the visit, she was briefed on the overall law and order situation and the functioning of PIFTAC. The chief minister approved the establishment of an anti-drone unit in Punjab and directed authorities to immediately set up a cybercrime cell in the province.
She ordered continuous combing operations to safeguard public life and property and instructed officials to install state-of-the-art digital scanners at all entry and exit points of the province. A special monitoring dashboard has also been introduced for deputy commissioners to enhance security and surveillance.
The chief minister further directed that the whistleblower system be strengthened to counter terrorism and criminal activities. She announced that an AI hub would be created within PIFTAC to boost cybersecurity and operational efficiency.
Emphasising a proactive security policy, she said authorities must focus on pre-emptive measures instead of reacting after incidents occur, adding that the government was committed to making Punjab the safest province in the country by utilising all available resources.
