ISLAMABAD-UNS: An Islamabad anti-terrorism court has directed the Federal Investigation Agency to block the passports of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and other PTI leaders nominated in a case registered at Kohsar Police Station.
Judge Abul Hasnat Muhammad Zulqarnain issued the order on a police request.
The investigating officer told the court that several suspects had not appeared before it and that some who had secured interim bail had allegedly failed to join the investigation. Police argued that the suspects might leave the country to avoid the proceedings.
The court directed the FIA to keep the passports blocked until further orders.
Those named in the reported order include Asad Qaiser, Omar Ayub, Junaid Akbar, Shahid Khattak and other PTI-affiliated lawmakers and leaders.
The case includes allegations of attacks on state institutions and promotion of terrorism. The allegations have yet to be determined at trial.
