BIRMINGHAM – UNS : Pakistan’s young fast bowler Razaullah announced his arrival in international cricket with a remarkable all-round performance against England in the third Test at Edgbaston, helping his team avoid an innings defeat.
The 21-year-old smashed 81 off just 63 balls in Pakistan’s second innings, striking nine sixes and four boundaries.
His nine sixes equalled Tim Southee’s record for the most by a player on Test debut.
Batting at number nine, Razaullah combined with Mohammad Abbas in a crucial 121-run partnership that transformed Pakistan’s position.
Their resistance helped the visitors reach 449, setting England a target of 130 and taking the match into a fourth day.
Razaullah had already impressed with the ball, taking four wickets for 148 runs in England’s first innings. His victims included captain Joe Root, Emilio Gay, Jamie Smith and Ollie Robinson. Root was his maiden Test wicket. Pakistan Cricket Board.
