PESHAWAR- UNS : The Pakistan Tobacco Board (PTB) has stepped up its campaign against illegal tobacco purchases, sealing an unauthorized purchase centre in Tangi, District Charsadda, and taking action against a licensed company’s purchase centre for violating tobacco marketing regulations.
The enforcement operation was carried out on the directions of PTB Chairman Muhammad Shahid Hussain. Deputy Director Marketing Shafaat Ahmad Meher, accompanied by the Governor Inspection Team (GIT), Charsadda, led the operation.
During the raid, officials sealed an illegal tobacco purchase centre operating in Tangi for conducting unauthorized buying activities in violation of the Tobacco Marketing Rules.
The inspection team also visited the purchase centre of Falcon Tobacco Company in Charsadda. Officials found that the company had failed to maintain proper purchase records, did not provide the required documentation to the Pakistan Tobacco Board, and violated provisions of the Tobacco Marketing Rules.
As a result, the purchase centre was sealed on the spot.
Speaking during the operation, Deputy Director Marketing Shafaat Ahmad Meher warned that the Pakistan Tobacco Board would continue taking strict action against all those involved in illegal tobacco purchases. He said the Board remains committed to protecting the rights of tobacco growers and ensuring full compliance with the Tobacco Marketing Rules.
PTB Chairman Muhammad Shahid Hussain has directed field staff across all tobacco-growing districts to maintain strict vigilance against illegal purchase centres and take indiscriminate legal action against violators.
He said the ongoing crackdown is aimed at ensuring transparency in the tobacco marketing system, enforcing regulatory compliance, and safeguarding the interests and rights of tobacco growers throughout the purchasing process.
