ISLAMABAD-UNS: Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on Friday emphasized the need for national unity, political stability, constitutional supremacy, and stronger democratic values during a visit to Eidgah Sharif in Rawalpindi.
British High Commissioner to Pakistan Jane Marriott, Federal Minister for Education Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, and the Prime Minister’s Adviser on Cryptocurrency Bilal Bin Saqib accompanied the Chairman Senate. The delegation was received by the Custodian of Eidgah Sharif, Pir Syed Muhammad Hassan Haseeb-ur-Rehman.
During the visit, Pir Syed Muhammad Hassan Haseeb-ur-Rehman briefed the guests on the shrine’s rich spiritual heritage and its longstanding contributions to religious education, social welfare, Sufi traditions, and the promotion of Islamic values. He noted that for more than 150 years, Eidgah Sharif has served as a centre of spiritual guidance, attracting millions of devotees from Pakistan and abroad.
Paying tribute to the shrine’s religious and social services, Chairman Senate Gilani said the teachings of the great Sufi saints continue to inspire values of love, tolerance, compassion, mutual respect, and service to humanity. He stressed that Islam is a religion of peace and harmony, adding that terrorism, extremism, and hatred have no place in its teachings.
Addressing the country’s political and economic situation, Gilani urged all political stakeholders to place national interests above partisan considerations. He reaffirmed Parliament’s commitment to promoting democratic traditions, constructive dialogue, and national consensus.
The Chairman Senate also highlighted economic stability, investment promotion, export growth, job creation, and public relief as key national priorities. He expressed confidence that with institutional coordination, democratic resilience, and collective resolve, Pakistan would overcome its challenges and continue progressing towards sustainable development and national prosperity.
