Islamabad Announces Local Holidays on April 9–10

The district administration of Islamabad has declared April 9 and 10, 2026, as local holidays across the federal capital, ordering the closure of all educational institutions and offices during this period.

According to an official notification issued on Wednesday, both public and private sector schools, colleges, and offices will remain closed on Thursday and Friday within the jurisdiction of the Islamabad Capital Territory.However, essential services will continue to function without interruption.

The exemption applies to key departments and institutions, including the Municipal Corporation of Islamabad, Capital Development Authority, Islamabad Capital Territory Administration, Islamabad Police, Islamabad Electric Supply Company, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited, and hospitals.

“It is notified that April 9 and 10, 2026, are hereby declared as local holidays within the revenue limits of Islamabad Capital Territory, except for offices of essential services,” the statement said.

The announcement follows Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement in easing recent regional tensions involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, which contributed to a temporary pause in hostilities.
