New Zealand booked their place in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 final with a commanding nine-wicket victory over South Africa in the second semi-final at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on Wednesday.
Chasing a target of 170, the Black Caps made light work of the run chase, reaching the required total with 43 balls to spare and losing only one wicket in the process.
Openers Finn Allen and Tim Seifert set the tone with a blistering partnership of 117 runs inside nine overs. Allen struck a magnificent century, while Seifert provided valuable support with a rapid 58 off 33 balls, which included seven boundaries and two sixes.
The stand was finally broken when Kagiso Rabada dismissed Seifert, but by then the match was firmly in New Zealand’s control. Allen remained unbeaten to guide his side comfortably across the line, sealing a comprehensive victory and a place in the tournament final.
