Quetta: President of Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ayub Marriani, has welcomed the recent trade agreements between Pakistan and Iran, calling them a positive development for the country’s business community. He stated that these agreements will mark the beginning of a new economic chapter between the two neighboring countries.
According to Marriani, the agreements will not only enhance bilateral trade but will also significantly boost regional economic stability and business opportunities. He said that the expansion of trade ties between Pakistan and Iran had been a long-standing demand, and these steps will help open up new markets for local industries while formalizing cross-border trade.
Highlighting the importance of border trade, he emphasized that its growth would benefit local economies and help reduce unemployment. He urged both governments to swiftly implement mechanisms for banking channels and currency exchange to facilitate smooth transactions. Marriani stressed that resolving issues related to customs, visas, transport, and banking is crucial for the successful implementation of these agreements.
The Quetta Chamber President further noted that importing low-cost energy, petroleum products, and agricultural commodities from Iran could provide significant financial relief to Pakistan. He called on the government to involve the private sector in decision-making processes to ensure policies reflect ground realities.
Marriani concluded by saying that if these trade agreements are advanced with transparency and mutual trust, they could prove highly beneficial for the economies of both nations. The business community expects the government to turn these agreements into a foundation for sustainable development.
