ISLAMABAD : South Asian Athletes Federation(SAAF) Cross Country Championship will be held on November 24 at Fatima Jinnah Park in Islamabad. Athletes from seven countries including the host Pakistan will participate in the championship. In this regards,an MoU was signed between Pakistan Athletics Federation and private housing society regarding sponsorship on Monday.
According to the details, Safe Cross Country Championship 2024 will be held on November 24, 2024 at F-9 Park, in which seven countries will participate apart from the host country Pakistan. The sponsoring ceremony between Pakistan Athletics Federation and a private housing society was held at a private hotel in Islamabad in which the former Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee General (retd) Ehsanul Haque was the chief guest of the ceremony, former Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, Chairman South Asian Athletics Federation ChairMain General (R) Muhammad Akram Sahi, Zamrad Khan, Shoaib Sadal, Qamar Zaman, Noah Dastgir Butt, Shajar Abbas and Sajid Sadpara and other important personalities were present.
Special guest General (R) Ehsan ul Haq said that sports in the country. ‘The future is bright, the players have the spirit to win, selection on merit has yielded successful results.’As such, the Athletics Federation has given real joy to the nation through Arshad Nadeem. He said that no sport can develop without sponsors, media also plays an important role in the development of sports, in the future Pakistan will achieve more success in sports, with one gold medal we have come to the 62nd position while India is on the 71st place.
Earlier, Chief Organizer Brigadier (R) Sultan Mehmood Sati gave a sermon. He said that the credit for the performance in athletics goes to Akram Sahi, for the first time in the 70-year history of Pakistan, Pakistan has hosted this event. Senior categary 10 Km and Junior category will have 08 km race.
At the end, Pakistan Athletics Federation and private housing society Redon Garden signed an MoU. On this occasion, Shajar Abbas, the fastest athlete of Pakistan, was given a check of Rs. 1 lakh and his coach was given a check of Rs.50,000.
