Orientation session of Health Screening Intervention in Primary Schools of Balochistan held

QUETTA-UNS: One-day orientation cum inauguration of the Health Screening Intervention in Primary Schools
of Balochistan took place on July 22nd, 2024 at Serena Hotel, Quetta.
Ms. Gullali Jogezai, Project Coordinator for the health screening intervention welcomed the distinguished guests and presented the theme of the event. She opined that health screening intervention is the high need of time and this project is a testament of our commitment to nurturing healthy, educated, and empowered generations.

Mr. Hameedullah Nasar, CEO PPHI-Balochistan presented the overall picture of Balochistan. He articulated that the Balochistan province is passing through extreme condition in health and education sector. He stressed on the fact that awareness is specifically a dire need to address the health issues. Furthermore, he maintained his support for the implementation of project, as “there will be problems at the field level but we should not be dissuaded from our
common goal to help children. Mr. Nasar thanked the UNICEF for their continued support and congratulated the launch of the much-needed project.
Ms. Maryam Darweish, CFO UNICEF welcomed and appreciated the project orientation. She
discussed the importance of health screening and emphasized that it should be done in school
with utmost care and diligently. She elaborated that we have initiated this much need screening
in the province and we intend to roll out this task eventually to the health department for its
sustainability. Also Ms. Darweish said we need to connect the departments i.e. health and
education so both works together for healthy future of the children.
The CFO further said:
“Population here is scarcely distributed, so it is really difficult to give services; we try our level best to do so but it becomes difficult. Our problem is access and quality”.

Mr. Asadullah Khan, Education Officer UNICEF delivered a highly informative session on
data and monitoring. This session was equipped with basic knowledge of data and its types,
tools and sources for data collection and cross-questioning section. During the presentation Mr.
Asadullah has explained the importance of data for monitoring support and said that data
collection is the backbone of effective monitoring and evaluation (M&E) for organizations. It
allows organizations to gather valuable information about their programs, beneficiaries, and
the impact they are having on communities.
Training Session of Project Team on Health Screening: After the break, a very interesting
and productive activity session was conducted in between the project team by Mr. Naqeebullah.
The main purpose of the activity was to know the understanding level of the project team about
the series of activities to be implemented in the project. The teams were divided into two groups
with the average participants of 6 to 7 in the group. They prepared a detailed presentation about
the execution of campaign, use of process, communication with line department, technical tools
usage and general project.
After the group presentation, the Q & A session was conducted to make the project activity for
further clearance.
