LHC suspends PMDC notification increasing medical college fees

LAHORE -UNS : The Lahore High Court has suspended the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council’s (PMDC) notification increasing fees for medical colleges.Justice Khalid Ishaq heard a petition filed by Central Park Medical College challenging the PMDC notification.

Advocate Ramzan Dhudhi represented the petitioner college during the hearing.

The counsel told the court that the college had collected Rs2.1 million in fees from students at the time of admission, while PMDC had issued a notification allowing an annual five per cent increase in fees.

He further said PMDC had also issued a notification regarding the collection of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from students. According to the petitioner, PMDC does not have the authority to issue a notification for increasing fees.
