Pak-Austria Institute Haripur status become controversial?

HARIPUR -UNS: The status of the Pak-Austria Fachhochschule Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology (PAF-IAST),Haripur has become controversial after violation of Charter and charging high fee from students.

Local political leaders questioned the status of the institution and said whether the institution is private or public sector?”If it is a private institution, then why does it receive funds of billions of rupees from the government”?

It should be noted that the KP government has released funds of nine billion rupees to ,Fachhochschule Institute which have not been accounted for.

Billions of rupees are being misappropriated in the institution, the accounts of which should be cleared and the exorbitant fees should be reduced and made affordable for the common man,said Former provincial ministers Qazi Mohammad Asad Khan, Ijaz Ali Khan Durrani and Zar Gul Khan told a news conference at Durrani Welfare Hospital,on the other day in Haripur.

Qazi Asad has questioned the Higher Education Commission and the KP government whether the status of PAF-IAST  is public or private? If it is public, then why are the fees for its proposed medical college and other programs higher than other public institutions.

He said the accounts of the institution should be investigated and the reality of the government and non-government status and funds of the institution should be brought before the public.

Ejaz Durrani said that there is no chartered medical college in  Fachhochschule Chartered, the annual fee of eighteen lakh rupees is unaffordable for the public.

Zar Gul Khan raised a question about the status of  Fachhochschule said that the public should be told whether this institution is public or private?He said that the public have reservations regarding the fee structure of PAF-IAST.

PAF-IAST recently launched several programmes of health sciences while a medical college was approved in the same institute where MBBS classes would commence soon.

Former provincial minister Qazi Asad said that institution also takes funds from the government and charges more fees from the students, which is illegal.

Fee structure for MBBS in   Pak-Austria Fachhochschule Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology (PAF-IAST), Haripur, more than to private medical college.

 PAF-IAST was launched in September 2020 to build high-tech education and industry infrastructure, integrating Austrian and Chinese collaboration for applied sciences, engineering and technology.

The main purpose was skilling youth for a high-tech economy and CPEC industrial zone, Hattar Industries,Haripur.
