ISLAMABAD: During the holy month of Ramadan, acts of community service are being widely observed across the country. In this connection, Zakat Foundation of America organised special iftar meals in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Kotli (Azad Kashmir), Khanewal, Muzaffargarh, Multan, Pattoki, Toba Tek Singh and Mansehra.
At these locations, iftar was served to attendants of patients and underprivileged residents from nearby areas. Organisers said the initiative aimed not only to facilitate those observing the fast but also to promote compassion, solidarity and mutual cooperation within society.
A large number of young volunteers from various universities across the country took part in the arrangements. The students actively contributed to the preparation and distribution of meals, ensuring timely and respectful service to the beneficiaries.
One volunteer said that participation in such activities had positively changed his outlook on life. He added that the satisfaction derived from helping others was unmatched and strengthened feelings of humility and gratitude.
Members of civil society appreciated the effort and said such initiatives helped reinforce values of brotherhood and mutual respect within communities. They stressed that welfare activities should not be confined to Ramadan alone but should continue throughout the year so that the spirit of service and dignity may be sustained for future generations.
