WASHINGTON -UNS: The United States has approved a significant defense package for Pakistan, dismissing concerns raised by India. The deal includes advanced radar systems and avionics upgrades for the Pakistan Air Force’s F-16 fighter jet fleet.
Valued at approximately $686 million, the program aims to enhance the operational capabilities of Pakistan’s F-16 aircraft and extend their service life through 2040 by equipping them with modern technology.
India had strongly objected to the deal and urged the U.S. to reconsider. However, the U.S. State Department stated that the upgrade is intended to support ongoing counterterrorism efforts and would not disrupt the military balance in the region.
