ISLAMABAD -UNS : Security forces successfully repelled an attack on the Gangi Khel check post in Wana, South Waziristan, on Friday, killing all four attackers involved in the assault without suffering any casualties.
According to security sources, the attackers attempted to advance toward the check post but were intercepted at the initial stage of the assault. A swift and effective response by security personnel foiled the attack before the militants could breach the position.
Following the incident, the banned militant outfit claimed responsibility for the attack and confirmed the deaths of four of its members. Those identified by the group were Commander Abu Dujana, Ahmad Waziristani, Mujahid Talha, and Umar Mansoor.
Security officials said the timely action by the forces prevented any loss of life or damage to the check post. No personnel were injured during the exchange of fire.
The incident highlights the continuing security challenges in the former tribal districts, where security forces remain engaged in counterterrorism operations aimed at preventing militant attacks and maintaining stability. Investigations into the attack are ongoing, while security in the area has been further strengthened to deter any additional threats.
