UNS:South Africa registered a comprehensive 76-run victory over India in their Super Eight clash of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday, courtesy of a disciplined bowling display following David Miller’s aggressive half-century.
Batting first, South Africa posted a competitive 187 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs. The innings was anchored by a crucial 97-run partnership for the fourth wicket between David Miller and Dewald Brevis after an early collapse.
The Proteas suffered an unsettled start as India’s pace pair Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh removed skipper Aiden Markram, Quinton de Kock and Ryan Rickelton inside the first four overs, reducing them to 20 for 3. Miller then joined Brevis and the duo counterattacked with confidence, rebuilding the innings with fluent strokeplay.
Brevis was dismissed in the 13th over after scoring a brisk 45 off 29 balls, including three sixes and three fours. Miller continued to dominate the bowling and added 35 runs with Tristan Stubbs for the fifth wicket before falling to Varun Chakravarthy in the 16th over. He top-scored with a 63 off 35 deliveries, hitting seven fours and three sixes.
Stubbs remained unbeaten on 44 off 24 balls, ensuring South Africa finished strongly despite a late slowdown triggered by disciplined Indian bowling.
Chasing 188, India were bundled out well short of the target as South Africa’s bowlers maintained pressure throughout the innings. The Proteas’ attack proved too strong, sealing a convincing win to strengthen their position in the Super Eight stage.
For India, Bumrah was the standout bowler with figures of 3 for 15, while Arshdeep Singh claimed two wickets. Varun Chakravarthy and Shivam Dube picked up one wicket each.
