ISLAMABAD -UNS : The Potohar CNG Association staged a protest outside the National Press Club on Wednesday against the prolonged suspension and irregular supply of natural gas, urging the federal government to take immediate notice of the crisis affecting the sector.
The demonstration was led by Potohar CNG Association President Zulfiqar Baloch, Vice President Waheed Afzal, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Zia-ur-Rehman. A large number of CNG station owners and representatives from Islamabad, Rawalpindi, the Potohar region, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa participated in the protest, carrying banners and placards demanding the uninterrupted supply of gas.
Addressing the gathering, Zulfiqar Baloch said repeated gas shutdowns had severely disrupted CNG businesses, causing significant financial losses to station owners while putting the livelihoods of thousands of employees at risk. He warned that many CNG stations could be forced to shut down permanently if the situation continued.
Vice President Waheed Afzal said the CNG sector plays a vital role in providing an affordable fuel alternative and supporting the national economy. However, he said inconsistent government policies and prolonged gas closures had pushed the industry into a deep crisis. He called on the authorities to ensure an uninterrupted gas supply to CNG stations.
