Pakistan Strongly Condemns Israeli Airstrikes on Syria, Calls for International Action

By Dr Lubna Farah

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has strongly condemned Israeli airstrikes on the Abu al-Duhur Airbase in Syria’s Idlib region, describing the attack as a flagrant violation of international law and a threat to regional peace and stability.

In a statement, the Foreign Office said Pakistan firmly denounced the “unprovoked attack” carried out by Israeli forces.
“Such provocative actions constitute a flagrant violation of international law and have the potential to further undermine regional peace and stability,” the Foreign Office said.

Pakistan expressed unwavering solidarity with the people of Syria and reiterated its full support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, peace and prosperity of the Syrian Arab Republic.
Islamabad also called upon the international community to take effective steps to end repeated violations of international law and ensure accountability for actions that could further destabilize the region.
According to Syrian state media, Israel carried out eight airstrikes on Tuesday targeting the runway and storage facilities at the Abu al-Duhur Airbase in northwestern Syria. Military and local sources reported no casualties.
The strikes also drew condemnation from Türkiye. The Turkish Foreign Ministry said the attacks violated Syria’s territorial unity and integrity and urged the international community to take a more decisive position against escalating Israeli military actions in Syria.
Israel, however, said the strikes were linked to security concerns over a possible Turkish military deployment at the airbase. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said Syria was close to violating what it described as a security “status quo” with Israel and maintained that Israel would not tolerate threats to its security.
Meanwhile, U.S. Ambassador to Türkiye and Special Envoy for Syria and Iraq Tom Barrack expressed concern over the strikes, describing them as an “unnecessary escalation” that did not contribute to regional stability. He urged all sides to exercise restraint and prioritize dialogue over further military confrontation.
