ISLAMABAD -UNS: Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar has claimed that more than 20,000 militants are present in Afghanistan, including over 6,000 members of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Addressing a conference on the evolving counterterrorism landscape in Islamabad, Tarar said Pakistan had repeatedly urged the Afghan government through diplomatic and international forums to prevent militant groups from using Afghan territory for their activities.
He alleged that militants were operating from safe havens in Afghanistan and receiving various forms of training there. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to combating extremism and promoting peace and stability across the region.
