NDMA issues flood alert across Pakistan

ISLAMABAD-UNS: The National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC) of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a flood alert for several parts of Pakistan amid forecasts of heavy rainfall until September 17, 2026.
The expected rains may increase water levels in rivers, streams and seasonal drains, raising the risk of flash floods and urban flooding in Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Islamabad and Balochistan.
Areas potentially at risk include Gilgit, Diamer, Ghizer, Ishkoman, Gupis-Yasin, Nagar, Hunza, Shimshal, Skardu and Shigar in Gilgit-Baltistan.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the alert covers Upper Dir, Swat, Bajaur, Malakand, Kurram, Kohistan, Mohmand and Orakzai, while Zhob, Sherani and Musakhel may face similar risks in Balochistan.
Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Sheikhupura and other urban areas of Islamabad and Punjab could also experience flooding.
The NDMA has advised citizens to avoid crossing.
