Namangan Invites Pakistani Tourists Through “Heritage of Pilgrimage” Tourism Programme

UNS:Namangan Region of Uzbekistan is promoting its rich religious, historical, and cultural heritage to attract more international visitors, particularly Pakistani tourists, through the newly developed “Heritage of Pilgrimage” tourism routes programme.

Initiated by the Namangan Regional Administration, the programme aims to introduce visitors to the region’s sacred pilgrimage sites, historical monuments, centuries-old traditions, and spiritual values. It offers tourists an opportunity to explore the remarkable heritage of the Fergana Valley.

The routes feature several prominent destinations, including Aksikent Archaeological Park in Turakurgan District, Bibiona Mazar in Chust District, and Sultan Uvays Qaraniy and Bibi Naima Ona pilgrimage sites in Chortoq District. Other attractions include the “Mothers’ Tears” Complex in Pop District, the “Eleven Ahmad” pilgrimage site in Davlatabad District, and the Mulla Kyrgyz Okhund Complex in Namangan city.

The programme also incorporates more than 20 additional pilgrimage sites and cultural heritage attractions across the region, offering visitors a comprehensive spiritual and cultural experience.

The initiative is expected to strengthen Namangan’s position as an international pilgrimage tourism destination, boost tourism infrastructure, and generate new economic opportunities for local communities.

Pakistan, with its predominantly Muslim population, represents a promising market for the initiative. Shared Islamic values, historical connections, and reverence for renowned Muslim scholars provide a strong foundation for tourism cooperation.

The “Heritage of Pilgrimage” programme is therefore a significant step towards deepening tourism and cultural ties between Uzbekistan and Pakistan.
