RAWALPINDI/TEHRAN -UNS : Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, has concluded a short but significant official visit to Tehran, as Pakistan continues diplomatic efforts aimed at easing tensions and promoting dialogue between the United States and Iran.
During the visit, Field Marshal Asim Munir held high-level meetings with senior Iranian leadership to discuss regional stability, de-escalation efforts, and ongoing diplomatic consultations following the April 8, 2026 ceasefire.
The Pakistani military chief met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, and Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni during a series of discussions held over the past 24 hours.
According to official sources, the talks focused on strengthening diplomatic engagement, encouraging constructive dialogue, and supporting long-term peace and stability in the region. The meetings were described as positive and productive, with both sides emphasizing continued communication and restraint.
Reports from the discussions suggest that recent diplomatic engagements have produced encouraging progress toward a broader understanding under the ongoing mediation framework involving regional stakeholders.
Iranian officials appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in facilitating dialogue and promoting peaceful solutions to regional issues, reaffirming Islamabad’s position as an important diplomatic bridge during periods of heightened geopolitical tension.
Upon his arrival in Tehran, Field Marshal Asim Munir was received by Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni along with senior Iranian civil and military officials.
