TEHRAN -UNS : Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Asim Munir, met Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Tehran to discuss regional peace, security and ongoing diplomatic developments linked to US-Iran engagement.
According to Iranian media, both sides exchanged views on the evolving regional situation, peace efforts and broader security concerns affecting the region.

The meeting followed Asim Munir’s arrival in Tehran on an official visit aimed at supporting diplomatic and mediation efforts amid continuing tensions between Washington and Tehran.

Security officials said the Pakistani military chief was received by Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni along with Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who has been holding talks in Tehran over the past several days.

During the visit, Field Marshal Asim Munir is expected to meet senior Iranian leaders to discuss US-Iran negotiations, bilateral cooperation and regional developments.

The visit is being seen as a significant step in strengthening Pakistan-Iran diplomatic and security coordination at a time of heightened tensions in the Middle East.

Meanwhile, Mohsin Naqvi continues consultations with Iranian officials regarding ongoing negotiations and diplomatic contacts connected to US-Iran talks.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio recently said Washington remains in regular contact with Field Marshal Asim Munir and appreciated Pakistan’s role in facilitating dialogue between the United States and Iran.

The ongoing tensions between the US and Iran continue to revolve around Tehran’s nuclear programme, sanctions relief and regional security issues, while the Strait of Hormuz remains a key strategic concern influencing global energy security and diplomatic efforts.
