CDA issues adverse weather advisory; Emergency measures in Islamabad

Islamabad -UNS: The Capital Development Authority (CDA), in coordination with the district administration and Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI), has issued an adverse weather advisory in light of the Pakistan Meteorological Department’s forecast of rain, windstorms, hailstorms, and thunderstorms from March 24 to March 30.

According to the forecast, heavy rain accompanied by strong winds and possible hailstorms is expected particularly between March 25 and 26, while another spell of rain is likely to continue from March 28 to 30.

Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa has directed all relevant departments to ensure comprehensive and proactive arrangements to effectively handle any emergency situation in the federal capital.

Joint teams of CDA, MCI, and district administration will remain deployed in the field throughout the weather spell to assist citizens.

Emergency and rescue response units have been placed on high alert. Strict monitoring of major roads, drainage systems, waterways, and low-lying areas has been ordered to prevent urban flooding and ensure public safety.

Officials and field staff have been instructed to remain present on-site, equipped with necessary machinery, to oversee operations and respond promptly to any situation.

Senior officers have also been directed to ensure their presence in the field during the expected weather conditions.

Special measures have been taken to maintain smooth traffic flow, including arrangements for efficient drainage at underpasses and other critical points.

Citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel during adverse weather conditions and to adopt precautionary measures.

In case of any emergency or complaint, residents can contact the CDA helpline, where prompt response and resolution will be ensured.

These measures aim to safeguard residents and ensure uninterrupted civic services across Islamabad during the forecasted weather spell.
