TORONTO -UNS: A first Muslim woman of Pakistani origin was appointed British Consul General in Canada. According to details, Britain government has appointed Fawzia Younis, a Muslim woman of Pakistani origin, as the Consul General at Toronto, Canada.
Fawzia Yunus informed about her appointment on the social networking Twitter and wrote that “I have been appointed British Consul General in Toronto by King Charles”.
She said that this is a special occasion when any Muslim woman has been appointed as the head of a diplomatic mission by the United Kingdom, but there is no further information in this regard.
Fauzia Younis further wrote in her tweet that girls who look like me. They face prejudice, racism and sexism from inside and outside circles, being told they can’t do something or look or speak like that. Don’t let anyone diminish your strength. You can change the world.
Fauzia Younis is currently serving as the spokesperson of the British High Commission in Pakistan.
