WTP Report
ISLAMABAD:Due to the wrong and nonprofessional decisions of the than Managing Director, the Company suffered irreparable losses disclosed senior staffer of SNGPL. During the tenure of deposed Managing Director,Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Company Limited (SNGPL) Ali Javed Hamdani different complaints of irregularities and mismanagement from various quarters were constantly reaching the influential quarters both within the company and the ministry of Petroleum, but not much happened until the MD launched of highly controversial and Scandalous project.
Reliable sources disclosed that the 270-kilometer long Banu West I project and Walid gas field project were estimated at Rs. 22 billion.Documents available to “World Tribune” shows that the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) raised serious objections on the project.
OGRA was of the opinion that SNGPL could have reduced the project length if the same line was laid from CPD Manzali. This would have also resulted in significant financial saving on the project cost.Internal analysis of the project also confirmed that the company already had right of way from Daudkhel to CPF along with a 10-KM transmission line so the company only needed to lay 55 kilometers long line from CPF Lach to Banu East but the ‘wise’ ex-MD decided to lay a 277-kilometer line instead. The resources said that FIA is already started probing the matter.
Interestingly enough, during the same period SNGPL had issued bid bond worth Rs. 135 million to M/s Descon a private company, which is owned by Ex-Federal Minister for Commerce in the last government so the mutually beneficial connections are quite obvious. This bid bond was issued without prior approval of Board of Directors.
Official Trips’ of ex-MD:It is also reported that Ali Javaid Hamdani was living in Karachi before joining SNGPL. During his tenure of two years, he was reported to have travelled to Karachi 75 times for personal reasons. Now this was an expensive affair so he was turned these personal trips into official trips.
Sources also informed that the MD SNGPL has entitlement of keeping two vehicles at his or her disposal but Hamdani chose to keep seven vehicles. As if this was not enough, he wanted the company to get some more Fortuner and Land Cruiser.
Very interestingly, the Prime Minister who roped in this ‘genius’ MD had announced austerity drive during the same campaign.
Since Board of Directors had very strongly pursue the austerity drive so Hamdani was not successful in getting some more luxurious rides. Internal Audit reports also raised observations on extreme misuse of power by Ali Javaid Hamdani.
According to the sources, these revelations are just tip of the iceberg.
