Saudi Authorities Arrest Man in Makkah After Causing Panic Among Pedestrians

MAKKAH -UNS: Saudi security authorities in the Holy Capital have arrested a man accused of harassing pedestrians and causing panic and fear among people in the area, the Saudi Public Security authorities said.

In an official statement, Public Security said the incident was dealt with immediately by security personnel, who arrested the individual and took the necessary legal measures. The case has been referred to the Public Prosecution for further proceedings.

Authorities also rejected reports circulating on social media that alleged additional circumstances surrounding the incident, stressing that such claims were inaccurate.

The authorities urged the public to avoid sharing unverified information and emphasized the importance of obtaining news and updates from official sources.

The incident followed the circulation of a video on social media accompanied by claims alleging that security forces had foiled a suicide bombing at the Grand Mosque in Makkah. Security authorities dismissed those claims, saying the information being circulated did not accurately reflect what had occurred.

Authorities reiterated the importance of verifying information before sharing it, particularly in relation to security incidents in Makkah, and urged the public to rely on official statements for confirmed information.
