Tehran- UNS: Iranian judicial authorities have announced the arrest of 3,292 individuals on charges related to alleged collaboration with Israel and other “hostile states,” following the enforcement of a recently approved law that imposes stricter penalties for such activities.
Judiciary spokesperson Asghar Jahangir said during a press briefing on Monday that the detainees are accused of involvement in a wide range of activities, including operational support, financial and technological cooperation, as well as political, media, and propaganda-related assistance.
According to official figures, 684 individuals are accused of conducting field operations on behalf of Israel, while 657 face charges linked to economic, financial, or technological collaboration. A further 201 individuals are alleged to have provided logistical or supportive assistance, and 1,258 are accused of engaging in political or media-related activities. Authorities also reported that 193 individuals are being prosecuted for possessing or using unlicensed communication devices under Article 5 of the new legislation.
Jahangir added that judicial proceedings have advanced, with 1,061 indictments already issued. Investigators have also identified assets and properties linked to the accused, with ongoing efforts to trace and seize additional funds as part of the broader legal process.
Officials say the measures are part of a wider crackdown aimed at strengthening national security and countering foreign intelligence activities.
