Iran urges US to shift stance as new proposal sent via Pakistan

TEHRAN -UNS Iran has called on the United States to change its approach if ongoing tensions are to ease, after sending a fresh set of proposals through Pakistan.
Iran’s ambassador to Islamabad, Reza Amiri Moghadam, said Tehran had presented a new negotiation plan and made clear that progress now depends on Washington’s behaviour. He stressed that Iran would not compromise on its national interests or defence, while maintaining that it remains open to diplomacy.
According to the envoy, Pakistan continues to play a “central mediator” role in facilitating communication between the two sides, with its involvement unchanged as efforts to revive talks continue.
Call for policy shift
Moghadam criticised what he described as inconsistency in US policy, urging Washington to adopt a more constructive stance. He said responsibility for moving negotiations forward lies with the United States and called on it to respect Iran’s rights rather than pursue an aggressive approach.
At the same time, he highlighted strengthening economic and political ties between Iran and Pakistan, pointing to key border crossings such as Mirjaveh, Taftan, and Gabd-Rimdan as important trade links.
US response cautious
US President Donald Trump confirmed that Washington has received a 14-point proposal from Iran and will review it. However, he has not ruled out the possibility of renewed military action, signaling continued uncertainty around the outcome of diplomatic efforts.
Regional coordination
Separately, reports from Israel indicate increased coordination between Israeli military chief Eyal Zamir and US CENTCOM commander Brad Cooper regarding potential strategies related to Iran.
