Islamabad-UNS:
The Muslim INGOs Forum, a representative platform of international NGOs working in Pakistan on disaster response, convened an emergency meeting at the office of Zakat Foundation of America in Islamabad.
The meeting reviewed the grave situation caused by the recent cloudbursts and devastating floods in Mansehra, Buner, and Swat, where hundreds of families have been displaced, homes destroyed, and precious lives lost.
Country Heads and senior representatives from several leading Muslim international NGOs participated in the session, including Zakat Foundation of America, Muslim Aid, Islamic Relief, Muslim Hands, Pak-Aid, Human Relief Foundation Baitul Mal USA and READ Foundation, along with other representatives of the organizations.
It was unanimously decided that all Muslim INGOs operating in Pakistan will work jointly under the Forum to provide immediate relief assistance. The initial response will include the distribution of cooked food, essential rations, and household utensils to the affected communities.
Specialized rapid response teams, already active in some areas, will be reinforced and deployed in greater numbers. As part of the emergency initiative, the Forum pledged an initial allocation of USD 1 million for relief operations.
The rehabilitation phase, including long-term recovery and reconstruction support for the victims, will commence after the immediate relief needs are addressed.
