ISLAMABAD -UN S: Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Choudhary Latif Akbar, extended heartfelt congratulations to Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on being elected as the Founding Chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers Conference (ISC). In his congratulatory message and letter, he stated that this remarkable achievement is a recognition of Mr. Gilani’s visionary leadership, diplomatic insight, and consistent efforts for the promotion of parliamentary democracy and purposeful inter-parliamentary dialogue. He expressed confidence that under Mr. Gilani’s leadership, the ISC would mark the beginning of a new era of cooperation, mutual respect, and joint initiatives among global parliaments.
He further expressed hope that under Mr. Gilani’s far-sighted leadership, the ISC would also emerge as an effective platform to highlight the Kashmir issue at the global level. He stated, “I am confident that under your leadership, this forum will raise the voice of the oppressed people of Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir and will assist the international community in supporting their right to self-determination in accordance with the United Nations Security Council resolutions.” Expressing his best wishes for the Chairman Senate, he added, “I pray for your continued success in this prestigious position and assure you of my full support in all your positive initiatives for the promotion of democratic values, regional and global peace, and justice.”
Acting Governor of Balochistan and Speaker of the Balochistan Provincial Assembly, Captain (Retired) Abdul Khaliq Khan Achakzai, also congratulated Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on being elected as the Founding Chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers Conference (ISC), terming it a significant diplomatic and parliamentary success for Pakistan. In his congratulatory message, the Acting Governor and Speaker of the Balochistan Assembly stated that the establishment of this new international forum under the leadership of the Chairman Senate not only enhances Pakistan’s parliamentary stature but will also prove to be a milestone in promoting democracy, dialogue, and cooperation at the global level.

Earlier, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, met Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani at the Parliament House. During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, parliamentary cooperation, legislation, and the current political situation were discussed in detail.
