KARACHI : Action against corrupt mafia started in Federal Urdu University ,Karachi. To sought out the corruption cases,irregularities in University,the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Commission(HEC) formed a committee to investigate University corrupt affairs.
According to details the committee investigate corruption cases, appointments and appointments based on fake degrees and recruitment without merit in the Federal Urdu University. The Federal Ministry of Education took action on the news published in daily World Tribune.Consisting of four members committee comprises directors of the Higher Education Commission headed by the Joint Secretary ministry of Education.
The investigative committee is in Karachi visit for last three days but the Registrar and University managemnt are not cooperating with them. Even the Registrar and others relevent are not providing records to the committee. The main character of the scandal, Dr. Saram is missing and his phone off. The illegally appointed Registrar is also not cooperating with the committee.
Sources said the committee Frustrated by the University management and registrar’s non-cooperation attitude with the committee, the committee wanted to return to Islamabad, but the program was postponed for a day or two.
At the same time, after the detailed news was published in the daily World Tribune, the Ministry of Education issued strict notices against former treasurer Danish, former registrar Dr. Saram and other people involved in the corruption ,mismanagement of the university, who recruited their favourite in the university by violating rules and merit.
According to details the four-member committee consisting of senior joint secretary of the ministry and four directors of HEC has been formed to investigate former treasurer Danish, former registrar Dr. Saram and the fake selection committee, and has been sent to Karachi for inquiry while acting Dr. Saram, the protagonist of the scandal, who held the Vice Chancellor hostage and appointed himself to the post of professor through a illegal selection committee, and recruited his close relatives by trampling on merit,not providing records of the university.
According to University sources Dr Sarim have disappeared while the current Registrar of the Federal Urdu University, Dr. Zarina, is also not cooperating with the said investigation committee and she is avoiding to provide records.
The sources said that the acting Vice Chancellor of the university has also become helpless in front of this mafia.
It should be clear that former treasurer, former registrar flaunted his merit and appointed Dr. Masood Mashkoor, a person with a fake degree, as the Dean of the Department of Commerce.He not only allegedly had a fake PhD degree in Islamic Studies, but on this fake degree, he was appointed Dean of the whole trade, due to the blessings and approval of the current Vice Chancellor.
No action could be taken against Dr. Masood Mashkoor for doing this. Apart from this, the rules were flouted in the appointments and placements of teachers in the Federal Urdu University. Ironically, despite the orders and rules of the Higher Education Commission,
The sources said that the 80% of the Teachers were promoted to grade 20 without obtaining the Ph.D degree and the degrees of the degree holders have also been called dubious which is not only flouting the law but also playing with the future of the students studying in the university.
Despite the objection of the HEC, the influential former registrar of the university, ignored all the rules and regulations of the HEC and illegally recruited non-eligible staff in the university without merit. The irony is that the said person himself became the Head of the Selection Board.
