Women Senators submit resolutions to International Women’s Day

ISLAMABAD -UNS: As International Women’s Day approaches on March 8th, 2023, two Senators from the Senate of Pakistan have submitted separate resolutions to further women’s rights and empowerment.

In her resolution submitted in the Senate secretariat , Senator Seeme Eezdi called for commemorating International Women’s Day to promote a world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. The resolution recognizes the impact of the digital gender gap on social and economic inequalities and calls for a gender-responsive approach to innovation, technology, and digital education. The resolution also encourages the government to prioritize education in Information Communication Technology (ICT) subjects and allocate funds to empower women in the digital space.

Senator Samina Mumtaz Zehri emphasized to celebrate Women’s Day by allocating a Women’s History Week in the Senate of Pakistan. The initiative aims to serve as a milestone in the history of the Senate and to highlight the House of Federation’s expertise in campaigning for women’s rights.

Both Senators’ proposals acknowledge the importance of protecting the rights of women and girls in digital spaces and addressing online and ICT-facilitated gender-based violence. They also celebrate the contributions made by women and girls in every field, especially in technology and online education.

“I am honored to present this resolution to commemorate International Women’s Day,” said Senator Seeme Eezdi. “We must prioritize the empowerment of women in the digital space to bridge the gender gap and achieve greater equality.”

“I am humbled to submit this proposal for Women’s History Week,” said Senator Samina Mumtaz Zehri. “It is important to recognize the role of women in shaping our history and promote their contributions in every field.”

The Senate of Pakistan has always been at the forefront of protecting women’s rights, and these proposals demonstrate the commitment of its members to furthering women’s empowerment and equality.

Chairman Senate honors Women’s Contributions on International Women’s Day:

In honor of International Women’s Day, Chairman Senate of Pakistan, Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani, released a message celebrating the remarkable achievements of women in Pakistan and around the world. He recognized the significant contributions of women in every aspect of society, from leadership to family, and emphasized the need to continue working towards gender equality.

Chairman Senate acknowledged the progress made in promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment in Pakistan but stressed the importance of continued efforts to ensure that women have equal opportunities and a safe environment to thrive. He called on citizens to renew their commitment to advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment.

Sadiq Sanjrani’s message emphasizes the courage, strength, and resilience of women everywhere and honors their remarkable achievements. “This International Women’s Day, let us join hands in celebrating the vital role that women play in society and commit to working towards a more equitable future”. said Chairman Senate, Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani.
