‘Uran Pakistan’ program can be  milestone for furniture industry in Pakistan: Haji Muhammad Afzal

GUJRANWALA: Chairman All Pakistan Furniture Association Haji Muhammad Afzal said that  the implementation of the ‘Uran Pakistan’ program by the government of Pakistan will become positive step and it will beneficial for furniture industry .Talking to World Tribune he said this program will enable Pakistani furniture to reach the international level and increase employment opportunities in Pakistan and bring in foreign exchange.
He said that about forty thousand people are associated with this business in 250 sectors in the furniture industry and are getting employment.
He said that if the government reduces the taxes imposed on the furniture industry, the furniture industry can flourish and help in increasing the country’s development and foreign exchange.
He said that to address the shortage of skilled and trained woodworkers in this industry, it is essential for the government and the private sector to pay immediate attention to establishing vocational training institutions, developing programs for skill development, and taking steps to provide financial incentives to craftsmen.
