ISLAMABAD -UNS: The residents of G-14/4,Islamabad launched Complaint regarding Biological contaminated water supplied by FGEHA in Sector G‐14/4 . A critical issue regarding the quality of water supplied by the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) in Sector G‐14/4 of Islamabad is not clean,potable water and dangerous for human use .
According to details as per the CDA Act and the Islamabad High Court decision dated March 20, 2023 (W.PN0. 595‐2020), it is the basic responsibility of the Municipal Corporation Islamabad to ensure the supply clean and potable water (through Pipelines) and provision of other municipal services to the residents residing with the jurisdiction
of federal Capital Territory.
However, the water supplied by FGEHA in Sector G‐14/4 is contaminated with biological impurities, posing a serious threat to the health and well‐being of the residents.In a letter written by residents to Chief Commissioner,Islamabad the residents mentioned that despite numerous attempts by residents to lodge complaints with the concerned offices of FGEHA, but no serious action has been taken to address this issue.
Residents have been forced to undertake testing of water samples at their own expense, using the CDA Water Quality Control Cell laboratory. The test reports clearly indicate the presence of biological contaminants in the water supplied by FGEHA, highlighting the gravity of the situation.Water test reports are attached for ready reference.
It is imperative that immediate action be taken to rectify this situation and ensure the supply of clean and safe drinking water to the residents of Sector G‐14/4.The residents of Sector G‐14/4 also demanded that the immediate intervention of high-ups of Interior and Housing Ministries and Capital territory and resolve this issue and take the necessary measures to resolve this human interest issue at the earliest.
The residents of G-13,G-14 also raised questions on the over all performance of Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA).The residents paid huge taxes to FGEHA but services and performance of the Authority is not satisfactory. The Tankers Mafia minting huge money i.e.over Rs:75 crore annually only for water supply through tankers but the Residents have still face water shortage.
