Criminal negligence of WAPDA: Ghazi Brotha Barrage bridge under severe risk due to heavy traffic

Tarbela Ghazi:  The prohibited heavy traffic damaging national level hydel power project due to the negligence of the concerned authorities of Ghazi Brotha Barrage project, WAPDA.

Ghazi Brotha  Barrage  bridge on Indus river which is connected Swabi and Haripur districts are in a miserable conditions due heavy traffic. This is on water reservoir of Ghazi Barrage hydel power project located few kilometers from Terbela Dam project.

Long time passage of overloaded tralars and trucks over Ghazi Barrage results came now in form of cracks on roof of under sauces of Ghazi barrage.

Billions of dollars spent on construction of barrage which took seven years for completion and now giving daily 20 crore rupees earnings to national exchequer.

This most sensitive and important project cracks on roof of under sauces are emerging day by day due crossing of heavy i.e. overloaded tralars and trucks from Swabi side.

It is same place where Ghazi police stops barrage management approved load tralars for overloaded weight. They stop over loaded trucks and 22 wheeler trailars for checking then pass them on barrage towards Tehsil Topi district Swabi.

Ghazi Barotha Management is equally involved in this criminal negligence.

Few days before WAPDA-Barotha management fix a warning board mentioning over 60ton loaded vehicles not allowed. Before this sign board of 25ton load was fixed on barrage.

According to experts ‘if this practice continues it will harm severely of this billions dollars project and will also need long time for repairing’.

‘This mean country will face 1450MW electricity shortage and irreparable damage to country economy’.
