ISLAMABAD -UNS: Caretaker Prime Minister-designate Anwaarul Haq Kakar has decided to resign from party membership and the Senate.
Talking a TV ,Kakar stated that he would resign from the membership of the Senate and the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP).
Kakar mentioned that now, as he is responsible for ensuring free and fair elections in the country, for which he needs to cooperate with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), he has decided to resign from the Senate.
It should be noted that Kakar, who is the eighth nominee of the caretaker prime minister, will take the oath tomorrow. A decision will be made about the caretaker cabinet after assuming the charge.
On the other hand, the head of the Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M), Sardar Akhtar Mengal, expressed reservations about the appointment of the caretaker Prime Minister and wrote a letter to the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Nawaz Sharif.
Expressing his dismay, the BNP-M head said notwithstanding the situation being faced in Balochistan, it was a surprise that they [Nawaz and others] had been unable to learn from what had they faced. A solution to the current problems was being found in consultation with the establishment, instead of politicians, he remarked.
Making the undemocratic forces more powerful by weakening the democratic institutions will prove to be the last nail in the coffin of democracy, Mengal warned.
