Alleged cyberattack on ECP prompts security alert

ISLAMABAD -UNS: A security alert was issued on Friday after an alleged cyberattack on the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), sources said on Friday.
Sources said the employees of ECP had been urged to take necessary precautions in the wake of the situation. “The staff has been ordered not to open emails which may lead to precious data loss,” they added.

NIFT case :Last month, Pakistan’s national security had once again been compromised owing to alleged carelessness at the National Institutional Facilitation Technologies (NIFT). Even after seven days since the cyberattack occurred, NIFT is still attempting to fully restore its normal operations. Cheques are being cleared manually nationwide and digital payment services remain halted, it is learnt.
