ISLAMABAD -UNS Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, has said Tehran recently conveyed through Islamabad its willingness to reopen the Strait of Hormuz if Washington lifted its naval blockade.
According to The Associated Press, Moghadam made the remarks during a seminar in Islamabad, where he accused US President Donald Trump of rejecting the proposal by insisting that the blockade of Iranian ports would remain in place.
The Iranian envoy said Tehran communicated its offer during Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Asim Munir’s visit to Iran, making the reopening of the strategic waterway conditional on the United States ending its naval blockade.
The Strait of Hormuz is a vital global shipping route for oil and other energy supplies. Any disruption to maritime traffic through the passage has significant implications for international energy markets and regional security.
