Two FIA personnel arrested in illegal e-visa scandal

ISLAMABAD -UNS: Federal Investigative Agency FIA  personnel are also involved in E-visas  scandal issuing illegally to Afghan nationals.

In this regard two FIA personnel involved in corruption and facilitating the culprits have been arrested, which has been booked for further investigation.
The FIA arrested two suspects  include Sub Inspector Wasim Ahmed and Constable Aqib Mahmood.
The arrested personnel were posted in the FIA, Anti -Human Traffic Circle Islamabad.
Arrested personnel demanded physical remand bribe from accused Zubair in an e -visa case issued to Afghan nationals.
The arrested personnel demanded a bribe of Rs 20 lakh for facilitating the accused during physical remand.

In lieu of the aforementioned money, the accused assured to send the accused to judicial remand.
The both culprits were arrested by FIA  and the investigation was started.

It is mentioned here that six suspects of gangs involved in issuing illegal e -visas to Afghan nationals have been arrested.
The arrested suspects include Abdul Aziz, Ahmed Sakhi, Atif Ahmed, Nadir Rahim Abbasi, Abrar Ahmed and Zubair Ahmed.
Anti -Corruption Circle Islamabad’s 4 -member JIT constituted to investigate the arrested FIA personnel.

The  JIT is headed by Assistant Director Noman Khalil. The JIT team includes Sub Inspector Shams Khan, Sub Inspector Shahriar and Constable Mehdi.
The JIT will submit a report by conducting a neutral investigation.
According to DIG FIA, Rafat Mukhtar
the purpose of departmental accountability is to clear the institution from black sheep involved in corruption and other irregularities.He said that strict action is being taken against FIA personnel involved in illegal activities.
He further said that the accountability process at the organization will eliminate human trafficking and corruption at all level.
The officers involved in corruption and illegal activities  will be punished.
