With every patient and resident encounter, we lead with our system’s values of ICARE with kindness, and a holistic person-centered care approach that affirms our role as a preferred provider for so many families across the City,” said NYC Health + Hospitals Senior Vice President for Post-Acute Care Khoi Luong, DO, MBA. “We have a proven track record for care excellence and are uniquely positioned to be the most capable care providers for socially, medically-complex New Yorkers. Post-acute care nurses continue to improve patient care and expand healthcare services, focusing on Quality and Performance Improvement (PI) projects that enhance resident comfort, advance professional development, and positively impact local communities.

Achieving 5-star CMS ratings across the board in 2025, NYC Health + Hospitals/McKinney takes an innovative approach to person-centered care:

“This week is about more than just the work we do; it’s about celebrating the bonds we’ve formed with our residents and their families. It’s about recognizing that each of us plays a role in creating a home, not just a facility. Every smile, every word of encouragement, every thoughtful gesture has an impact. Together, we create a community where our residents can live with dignity and respect, and we do so with the utmost professionalism and care,” said NYC Health + Hospitals Post Acute Care Chief Nursing Officer Marian McNamara, RN, MSN. “We know that placing a loved one in a skilled nursing facility is not always an easy decision, and we are grateful for the continued support and collaboration of residents’ families. They are a key part of the team, and we value their role in ensuring the well-being of our residents. As we celebrate Nursing Home Week, let’s remember that the work we do is about making a difference in the lives of others. It’s about fostering a sense of belonging and community. It’s about creating a place where everyone feels cared for and valued.”
