A Voice for Justice: Understanding Imran Khan’s Struggle

By Engineer Iftikhar Chaudhry
Shahid Afridi recently gave a statement about Imran Khan that made many people disappointed. He said that Imran Khan should sit and talk to others and even questioned his intentions, claiming that Imran sees everyone as a thief or a bad person. Such remarks show a lack of understanding of the struggle Imran Khan has been leading for the people’s rights and justice.
The elections held in 2024 were a clear example of how the people’s mandate was stolen. Using Form 47, the election results were manipulated, and a government was imposed that lacked genuine public support. This was not the first time; even in 2018, efforts were made to limit Imran Khan’s mandate. Despite this, his strong connection with the public helped him secure a leadership position, although his government was later undermined through political alliances formed to control him.
Today, Imran Khan faces unjust imprisonment, and his supporters are being oppressed. Thousands of workers are in jail without reason, and Punjab police have been raiding homes and harassing families, including women. Such actions violate the values of justice and humanity. Imran Khan has repeatedly said he is ready for dialogue but only with those who hold actual power and can bring real solutions.
At a time like this, Shahid Afridi and others must think carefully before making such statements. Instead of discouraging the struggle for justice, they should stand by what is right and fair. Imran Khan’s fight is not for his own benefit; it is a battle for the future of the country and its people. His vision represents hope for a better  Pakistan.
