PPP, JUI-F reach consensus on constitutional amendment draft

ISLAMABAD -UNS: The Pakistan Poeples Party (PPP) and Jamiat-Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) have reached a consensus on draft of 26th constitutional amendment.

This was announced by JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman while addressing a press conference along PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto on Tuesday.

Fazlur Rehman stated that the proposed constitutional amendment had been discussed, and an agreement had been reached with the PPP on the draft.

The JUI-F chief mentioned that a meeting with Nawaz Sharif is scheduled for tomorrow, where efforts will be made to reach a consensus.

He also highlighted Bilawal Bhutto’s key role in achieving this agreement.

Fazlur Rehman announced that a consensus had been reached, and continuous contact was being maintained with PTI. He expressed confidence in gaining the full support of the house, though the final form of the draft will be awaited.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari expressed gratitude to Maulana Fazlur Rehman and shared that they had been invited to dinner by Nawaz Sharif tomorrow. He is hopeful that a consensus will be reached with Nawaz Sharif as well.

The PPP chairman mentioned that Fazlur Rehman hopes for an agreement with PTI too, and that consensus will bring improvements.

“PPP and JUI have always played key roles in successful constitutional amendments, and their working relationship will strengthen further. Once consensus with Nawaz Sharif is achieved, it will be shared with the media,” he added.
