QAMBAR SHAHDAD KOAT. Sindh Flood Emergency Rehabilitation Project Irrigation Department Component with funds of World Bank completed the rehabilitation and restoration work of Flood Protective bund from Sehwan Sharif to Chhukhi of Balochistan those parts of this embankment were damaged in supper flood 2022.
SFERP irrigation department component also completed all eight breaches of MNVD-Main Nara Valley Drain extension in Qambar Shahdadkoat district.
Resident Engineer SEFRP-Sindh Flood Emergency Rehabilitation Project irrigation department component Mushtaq Ahmed Birmani briefed that the rehabilitation and strengthening work of FP flood Protective bund from Peckage number 4 of Mado near Fareedabad of Dadu district to Peckage number 9 at Chukhi ( Balochistan-Sindh border) near Qaboo Saeed Khan of Qambar Shahdad Kot has been completed. He said that FP bund was widened from 10 feet to 22 feet and its height was raised from 15 feet to 17 feet.
He said that this FP bund was damaged during supper flood and heavy rains in 2022. He said that on emergency base with funds of World bank through SFERP the rehabilitation and restoration work of the FP bund carried out to protect the Qambar Shadad Kot and Dadu districts from rain water coming from Balochistan. He said that completely stone pitching of FP bund was also carried out.
The flood damages work and rehabilitation works at FP Bund and MNVD Main Nara Valley Drain were carried out under Project Director SFERP Javid Memon with strict vigilance of World Bank Task team leader Mr Ahsan Tehsin. All the flood damages parts of Flood Protective bund from Sehwan to Chhukhi of Balochistan rehabilitated and restored to protect the various towns and villages of Sindh province from hilltorents water of Balochistan.
However, the work of Aqueduct of Meero Khan has been completed 75 % percentage which was damaged in supper flood 2022 in Qambar Shah dad Koat district.
In this regard, Mushtaq Ahmed Birmani said that to complete this work of Aqueduct of Meero Khan, the day and night with heavy machinery, the work is going and it would be completed till agust 10, 2024.
Khan Mohammad Memon Additional Director SFRP briefed about that on damages work at MNVD Main Nara valley drain extension were completed. He said that total eight breaches were closed at MNVD extension in Qambar-Shahdad Kot district.
The local resident of Qaboo Saeed Khan Birmani Khan Chandio said that due to damages in FP bund at the area, the all population of area was migrated towards Urban area during supper flood 2022 but with completing of rehabilitation and restoration work at FP bund, they were safe along with their animals.
The resident of Fareedabad, Ghulam Deero appreciated the SFREP and World Bank to take efforts for rehabilitation and restoration work at FP bund, the completely area became safe. He said that work at FP bund was satisfactory.
Ahmed Bux Chandio resident of MNVD extension said that the all breaches and cuts at this drain were closed and embankments of drain were raised to protect the local population from floods.
