TARBELA/GHAzi (MalikFazal karim):The consulting firm T5C, working on the fifth extension plan of Tarbela Dam, has stopped work and issued a one-month notice to WAPDA.
According to sources, the firm had been facing financial issues with WAPDA for several months, which led to the stoppage of work. WAPDA officials had expressed concerns over the high salaries and benefits of the firm’s employees, which led to the decision to terminate the contract.
As a result, hundreds of employees working on the project are in a state of distress and uncertainty. WAPDA officials want the firm to reduce its unnecessary expenses and adjust the salaries of foreign employees according to local conditions.
The firm’s project manager, Mark Gill, and other high-ranking officials have returned to their countries.
It is essential for both parties to cooperate to complete the Tarbela Fifth Extension Project, which will generate 1530 MW of electricity, and make timely payments to ensure the project.
