Committee formed to review journalists’ grievances regarding ‘allotment of plots under journalist’s quota’

ISLAMABAD -UNS: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting formed the Grievances Redressal Committee to redress the grievances of those deserving journalists whose are not shortlisted or ignored for allotment of plots under the journalist’s quota for the Islamabad’s Sectors Bara Khau and F14/15, by the Selection Committee.

The four members committee formed by the Secretary Information and Broadcasting under the Chairmanship of Ms. Ambreen Jan ,Executive Director General External Publicity Wing, including Muhammad Auranzeb Haral, Director General Inter Publicity Wing, Ms Ambreen Gul Shahid, Director Press Information Department, Kashif Rafique Khawaja Bureau Chief, News One TV.The committee will start work in next week.

The TORs of the committee are to review the grievances of the concerned applicants in the light of eligibility criteria formulated by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

According to ministry notification applicants shall approach the committee within 07 working days of the issuance of the notification for redressal of their complaints.

Journalist Circle showed concerned on the said list. According journalist’s community ‘many senior and genuine journalists had ignored by the Plot Selection Committee by unknown reasons and many junior are obliged’.

Earlier, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has forwarded the list of shortlisted journalists to the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority(FGEHA) for allotment of plots under the journalist’s quota for the Islamabad’s Sectors Bara Khau and F14/15, as recommended by the Plot Selection Committee.

The Plot Selection Committee was constituted on 31-10-2017 comprising senior Rawalpindi and Islamabad based journalist i.e. Afzal Butt, Shakeel Anjum, Nawaz Raza, Javaid Saddique,Mubarrak Zeb Khan, Principal Information Officer (ex officio), Director Press (ex officio) and Chairman Saeed Javed (senior Information Group officer) to scrutinize the applicants.

The eligibility criteria for the allotment of plot required that applicant must be a full-time journalist working for Pakistani private media, with 20-year experience out of which 15 years’ service must be rendered in Rawalpindi/Islamabad and no plot has been allotted to him/her or family member by any government agency previously.

The base line criteria for Bara Khau sector was “First Come, First Serve” and for F14/15 was “Age-Wise Seniority”.The Grievance Redressal Committee has also been constituted to review the applications of concerned applicants in the light of eligibility criteria formulated by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

The complaints of the concerned applicants must approach the Grievances Redressal Committee within seven working day.
